A lot of time Small Businesses online suffer and fall of the wagon when they have low sales. But I was compelled to share this month progress with other online digital sellers and small business owners in hope that this will somehow help other creative sellers like me .
In this post I will be sharing with you how I spent the month with THE low sales of the year time.I have been doing business online for a while now. But this summer had been the worst in terms of earnings but since there were not many sales to take care of I used the month of June for my own progress and spent most of the time learning a few tools and started integrating them in my own business.
There are two ways that you can face the “precieved failures ” . Either fight these times and take them as an opportunity of your growth or just kick it all goodbye. In the past as well I have shared with you some of my failed months but when i look back at them they were always there to teach me something. So How did this month go? Lets review.
Since I had some time in my hands I joined some courses that helped me immensely to look into where I am going and what I am doing . I did hire a couch as well to help me pull through which turned out to be a really bad decision OR choice. Either way again an opportunity in disguise, this helped me clear out “Who NOT to hire as your coach! “. For us Artists there arent many coaches out there mainly because we are creative beings, we love to create art and already are stealing time from our busy life. This creative instinct helps us to move forward in our business but this also sometimes leads to frustrations when we are not able to see things moving forward.
For me the solution to turn my passion into biz involved learning new tech and then creatively twisting it to fit it into my own business using instinct and intuition.
I can not be happy more ! , this has been one of the best decisions that I have made to date. Terra of Uncork Your Dork Provides her heart out in a well managed and maintained subscription plan. Wham Bam Business Plan takes you step by step through the various Phases of your business. Why I loved this community and subscription is that it has all the bits and bolts that you need to learn in order to run a business online.
In the past I have been a part of Various subscriptions and since my focus had been entirely on selling products instead on sales, those subscriptions were not helping me much. Although this subscription is also not focused entirely for sellers who are into creating and selling products but this is the best place you can know it all and implement into your business.
Being a member I can do have a special offer if someone else is interested you can signup using my link HERE and get $10 off for the first month and try it out yourself.
I was successful in finding a go to business tools usage plan and have it streamlined. Nailing it and found out the best combination that fit my need. TASKS TO INCREASE SALES
1- Create 2-3 pins for each product
2- Create 1-3 Pinnable long images for your most
This one could be huge!
I have been having tricking sales but then I created a few Pinable images of my products (2-3 images for the same landing page), and uploaded them to Pinterst using the upload pin feature.
Click on the PLUS ICON > CREATE PIN > UPLOAD IMAGE > ADD URL OF LANDING PAGE > PIN!!
here is the example images that are leading to either the same product or to the section of the product.
For product these images could include
How to use your product, Tutorials that are step by step showing usage of your product or your product in action.
Similarly you can do the same for the same blog post. Create 2-3 images with different headlines that you can pin, these pins are leading to the same blog post but the headlines or text on pins could be different. Below you will see images created for the same product.
The tools that I recommend to create your newsletter and optin forms are
You can easily find out the most visited page from your google analytics dashboard. The page that is getting the most hits is the one you should be adding your signup form to first and foremost . Even when you dont have an enticing offer.
But it is in your best interest that you create a juicy offer or optin that is good enough for a visitor to hand over their email address to you.
Ahhh… the glorious group boards ! you can search for top group boards through PINGROUPIE website OR another tip is to find a person who is either selling similar products as yours or have the same interest as yours.
Now check out which group boards they are posting to and then send out a request to join those group boards. Post regularly to these group boards this will for sure bring in some new eyeballs to your business.
Set some time aside each week to feed your Tailwind so you dont have to waste your time pinning images. For those of you who dont know Tailwind is a tool that I looooooove and recommend for helping you uplevel your pinterest and as a result increase your sales and traffic through pinterest.
I loved this little handy tool…. sadly it is no more available so just lets move on to the next to-do task.
8- Scroll through pinterest for inspiration and new ideas
I love spending time on pinterest, and sometimes you do need some inspiration to get you started. Keep in mind to set up a timer for you once you are browsing for inspiration and not get carried away wading through pages and pages without any track of time.
Although I use Boards to create content calendar , product delivery process and customer service too , thats a story for another day. Right now you can get browsin’ the WWW and gather some ideas and inspirations up in the relevant Lists inside Trello… easy peasy and handy!
I usually create a Main List inside the board where I can dump ideas as I go, I also like to add WHY I liked this idea. The reason why I do this extra step is that almost everytime when I return to my brain dump list, I almost everytime forget why I added it to Dump list in the first place.
Later I move the ideas to relevant category lists on the same board, mine are Art Prints , Products , Sticker ideas and similar while you can create whatever suits your need.
This one is big! , by BIG I mean some fears will arise and probably they have been there for ages that is why you haven’t been able to accomplish the ideas or products. I have shared the Journal prompts workbook to overcome these fears of success which can be accessed in the tribe library as well.
But the simple step of committing to its completion using a visual deadline in your calendar takes you one step further in reaching your goal. In case you are facing issues reaching your goals now and in the past then I will suggest that you use the Goal Planner System that I use (psst… its on a special price)

For years I believed that selling Art is an easy task , which ofcourse I was led to believe . Somehow , some where and by someone.
I have no idea.
BUT I believed that all you had to do is to come with a creative idea that is brand spanking new and create something around it . Enjoy creating it , create it from the heart, throw it out in the world , get praised and that’s what creativity is all about.
I nailed it, I was led to believe by the praises that I got for my work that I nailed it .It was easy for me to wake up to a new day create something new and just be content with it.
For years I believed that, I am a very creative person and that I can easily sell my creativity. Now a belief deep rooted like that has two sides of it , either, you become over confident. OR , you get so lost in creating new Art that you entirely forget about selling side of it.
But wait here is another downside of this
You confidently give your art in the hands of “trusted” source to be sold “For you ” and on your behalf.
But what they aren’t telling you about selling Art Online is that you must know your rights and besides just knowing your rights , you must also know HOW they can ” Trusted” sources can go about cheating you.
I got badly cheated and stabbed on the back by an Art Licensing agency. Who took my art and took advantage of a “Line in the contract” that “really meant” something which ripped me off “MY RIGHT” over “My Work”.
To this day since last 2 years I have NO IDEA how many copies and products of my art have been sold by this Agency and they continue to do so. My emails were answered back for a while for the initial time of my protesting but not for so long.
As a result the Artist within me had a jolt !
I mean the deep initial jolt that really shook my creative side and I was unable to draw or create for a period of 2 years. Damn two years, I found myself lamenting about not being able to create something or anything.
I felt suffocated ! the artist within me screaming …….the ideas and creativity both abandoned me….. I was left alone.
I found myself struggling to find help trying to find the root cause of “not being able to create anything”.
Struggling to create something , anything !!
All this while the creative side of me screaming at me from inside , trying to break free , come out and like Elizabeth Gilbert in Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear says
” creativity screams to come out through you and if you don’t listen to it…. it will go and look for some other souls to bring it into realization”. (Read in detail here )
Dozens of ideas , failed to see the daylight through me found new souls those who listened to them and brought them into realization.
Ironically it is really painful to feel an idea banging against you screaming to you for realization. And then comes a time that you can feel them fading away.
And then suddenly you come across that creative idea, making bad faces at you, cause they found another outlet . Another creative soul who respected them enough and shaped them out.
I am a bit of an empath, ideas when they come to me they just come in bunches and no being able to transform them into reality really feels painful. I fought for a long time with the inability to create anything, inability to “Birth” these ideas. Failing at it , painfully seeing them adopted elsewhere.
I paid a heavy price for not listening to my intuitive sensitive side , burdening it with the “betrayed acts of trusted body”. I wasted 2 creative years of my life . Hell dozens of ideas knocking at my creative door and then finding other homes……..
Fighting it I tried “OTHER” arenas to bring my ideas and creativity to reality only to find being “betrayed” once again. Well thats another story for another day………
Today I find myself waking up from this burden of betrayal by someone else. And I wanted to start my journey by letting go of the pain of betrayal, and come out of the black cloak over my creative side.
And I am compelled to share my journey and the struggles of the two years and the process that helped me overcome that in hope that someone else might find a way out of un-creativeness a bit sooner than me.
With less scars left over the creative soul……
In the coming posts I hope to share how you can too come out of it if…..
Welcome to Art Inspire Studio Resources page, here I have listed the tools and resources that I use and recommend. Occasionally i mention the tools that i use for my graphic design and other technical bits. Here is a list of them all for your easy reference they might be helpful to you too. I do get a little compensation if you purchase anything following my link but these are my top most recommended ones.
For email marketing convert kit is the best one out there. If you have a smaller email list or trying to figure out the whole concept of Email Marketing you can start for free which Mailchimp but with convertkit you can easily segment your readers and send them personalized content so your engagement level is always booming.
if you have a smaller email list and hoping to start off small then i will recommend MailChimp . My mailchimp account has around 5 email lists . Once you get to know this tool it is very easy to use.
Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator are the best pals for me , as I use them everyday . My number one tool however is Photoshop . If you are starting out in learning photoshop you can get photoshop 7 which is free. You can download photoshop free to get sarted.
I recently seriously started using Canva , it does have some limitations when it comes to design , but overall it is a great tool for people who dont have enough knowledge of photoshop or illustrator to create graphics for their businesses.
There are tons of tools for social media but I recommend the following
I use hootsuite as a free tool at the moment and it is working fine for me . I have my instagram and twitter connected to Hootsuite. That way I can easily schedule messages for the period of a month in batch & push posts for instagram with ease. I love this tool !
Archie is another tool if you are looking for some automation in the very begining of starting to use instagram. Although I do not like the use of automation tools which like and just that. But if you are initially startign up with instagram just to get a number of followers visible on your account I think it is a great tool.
One of favourite tool which working is Snagit , from screen capture to creating graphics to screencast , this little tool is great for everyday use. Since my kids like to try their hands on recording minecraft videos even they can use it . Hands down simple to use !
Next to trello , I use airtable to manage my personal finances list, as well as the resources and quick links.
A very practical tool indeed , it zaps bit of tasks for you while you sleep . Examples of zaps it can trigger are like add your subscribers of one list to another , send email , Automating tasks , posting your Instagram posts to other social media and so on.
Like zapier , IFTTT can be really handy . I use ifttt to take items from my rss feed of etsy shop and then spread them over the social media networks. So once I publish a new product it is automatically posted to many channels , including but not limited to facebook , twitter and blogger.
I used trello to plan my week ahead see my sample board here
If you are a user of pinterest then you should not be missing out on Boardbooster, this has been a nifty little tool that helps me silently in the background , autoposting to pinterest and to other group boards/.
I just recently closed my etsy shop and decided to sell from my own shop . While I am still in the process of shifting products you will find a few of my designs still available.
Creative market is my go to site when I need fonts or graphics. I use to like graphic river but on creative market you will find far more superior quality of work.
I do earn comission on selling my stock graphic and images , in a recent post i have share 15 plces that you can also use to sell your graphics from.
I love love love this book , I got my hands on this one just recently and I think every artist should read this.
Tell Your Time: How to Manage Your Schedule So You Can Live Free
if you are into time management then this book is one that you should be looking into.
Blue host is regarded as the best hosting web platforms out there . If you are starting a blog or looking into shifting to a new hosting provider then this should be your choice of hosting provider.
